In Manson.
I spoke to you about this & you said that you would rather write to the CA as has been done lately in the case of the Colonies, but that for the present you would prefer to write for the Veterinary Allegations for Candidates. We have no list.

In continuation of my Despatch No. 592 of the 4th instant, I have the honour to transmit to you the enclosed paper of particulars concerning the vacant post of Colonial Veterinary Surgeon.

You will observe that I have, on the recommendation of the Sanitary Board, calculated the salary on a sterling basis at £450 rising to £520 by triennial increments of £35, which is the salary decided on for the Assistant Surgeon to be appointed to the Medical Department. The figure is, however, only given provisionally and pending further recommendations to be contained in a scheme of sterling salaries, which I hope to submit to you shortly.
